subtitles are not hard-coded into the dvd rip u have to open them manually, Here are the steps if u need help: 

Follow the instructions below:-

1)Open vlc player

2)Click the "File" icon at the top left corner of the player, from the drop 

down menu select "Open File" option

3)A sub window will pop-up, click the browse button next to the "Open: "

and then select your downloaded movie file

4)Then check the box saying "Use a subtitles file" and similiarly select the 

subtitle file for the respective cd using the browse button

5)Click ok at the bottom
